The following dishes are all easy to prepare, so if you're entertaining, or simply want some inspiration whilst watching the footie, take note of these tasty options.

Greece will be hoping to put their recent economic woes behind them in support of the football team, and after their shock win at the Euro finals in 2004, only a fool would write them off. A refreshing feta salad would make a welcome accompaniment to the game, as would mixed olives, but try this Greek take on a cheeseburger for a lively snack.

| Holland |

The orange men of Holland have never won the World Cup and have struggled in recent campaigns, but teams underestimate them at their peril. With legends like Marco Van Basten and Johan Cruyf long past, the Dutch are still hunting for someone to step into their shoes. Famed for gouda and edam cheeses, lighten up proceedings with a classic Dutch mussels dish. |

| Japan |
 |
After an excellent showing on home soil in 2002 when they made it through to the knockout rounds, and having won three out of the five previous Asian Cups, Japan might just have a trick or two up their kimono sleeve. Few dishes says Japanese more than sushi, which is healthy and light, but can take a little mastering. Try a simple noodle dish instead. |

| Portugal |
 |
Finalists at Euro 2004 and semi-finalists at the World Cup in 2006, Portugal’s best result remains their third-place finish at their first World Cup in 1966, which England won. But this year, with some serious talent, they’re hotly-tipped to push hard. The Portuguese are lovers of simple grilled fish lightly sauced with lemon and olive oil, so try a green salad with a Portuguese take, with the addition of sardines. |
